2-Ethylhexanoic acid（Isooctanoic acid）is a colorless liquid with a slight odor. Flammable, slightly soluble in cold water, soluble in hot water and ether, slightly soluble in ethanol.
It can be used as an intermediate for paint and coating drying agents,
as a modifier for alkyd resins, to produce peroxides as catalysts for polymerization reactions (such as PE), and as a stabilizer for lubricating oil esters and PVC.
